Summary
As a Civil Superintendent, you’ll be responsible for overseeing EPC contractors and all site civil activities. You will ensure construction follows plans and specifications as well as overall site safety. The Civil Superintendent will inspect construction operations, specific to renewable energy projects, including but not limited to; cement stabilized turbine access road installation, turbine foundation excavation, proper rebar installation, mass concrete foundation placement, backfill and compaction of excavations, and final site restoration.
Responsibilities
- Work with other inspectors (i.e. substation, collection system, gen tie electrical inspectors) to help inspect civil portions (grading, excavating, concrete pier and transformer foundation concrete placement) of the electrical works.
- Responsible for review of installation drawings, contractor's requests for information, change order requests, change proposals, progress reporting, contractor progress, construction coordination, attending site meetings, etc.
- Read, interpret, and review engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ensure all construction is in compliance with design specifications and industry good engineering practice.
- Maintain Inspection logs and documentation files.
- Provide issue resolution arising from inspections.
- Understanding of EPC QA/QC process, writing of proper QA reports, issuing and tracking non-conformances, and resolution of quality issues.
- OSHA 30 certification
Preferred Background
- 8+ years experience of Civil oversight experience
- Previous wind or solar construction understanding and knowledge
- Working knowledge as an owner’s representative, overseeing contractors and reporting to project management team
