Position Overview:
The Construction Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, laws, company policies, and project requirements. The role involves managing onsite vendors and contractors, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and facilitating communication among internal teams, external stakeholders, and public entities. The Construction Site Manager plays a key role in maintaining safety standards, project timelines, and quality control on-site, while also managing the transfer of Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE) responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Site Project Management:
- Supervise all construction activities, ensuring adherence to scope, industry standards, applicable laws, permits, and project requirements.
- Oversee EPC contractor performance related to safety, quality, environmental compliance, and worksite housekeeping.
- Manage labor productivity, material storage, equipment maintenance, and logistics.
- Ensure that permits, road maintenance, and landowner agreements are upheld.
- Project Planning & Coordination:
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, contributing to project execution plans, schedules, and budgets alongside the CPM.
- Coordinate with the Development Engineer to address specifications and technical details during planning.
- Conduct document reviews and ensure compliance with contract deliverables.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the on-site construction team and contractors.
- Cultivate a collaborative and efficient environment, ensuring the achievement of project milestones and goals.
- Schedule & Resource Management:
- Align contractor schedules with key project milestones to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate personnel and resources to optimize performance and meet project requirements.
- Vendor & Supplier Relations:
- Track the delivery and status of Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE) and manage reporting of delivery delays or damages.
- Facilitate coordination and communication with EPC contractors and suppliers to ensure smooth operations.
- Issue Resolution:
- Proactively identify project-related obstacles or risks impacting timelines or quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Budget & Financial Oversight:
- Monitor project costs to ensure adherence to the budget and implement cost-saving strategies where appropriate.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure strong safety practices on-site, conducting regular safety meetings, drills, and training.
- Ensure construction practices meet Clearway’s environmental, health, and safety standards, along with relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Quality Assurance:
- Support the implementation of quality control processes, ensuring projects meet industry standards, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Conduct inspections, including pre-construction alignment, first build, and golden row inspections, ensuring that contractor deliverables meet quality standards.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as the primary contact for on-site project communications.
- Maintain clear communication with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth operations.
- Proven experience in managing construction sites, preferably in utility-scale battery storage or renewable energy projects (solar/wind).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct on-site personnel.
- Deep understanding of battery energy systems and construction processes.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills for handling multiple priorities and tasks.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to addressing site challenges.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness to work on-site and travel as necessary.
- Occupational health and safety certifications are a plus.
- Required: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of project management experience, with 3-5 years of experience in utility-scale battery, solar, or wind energy projects.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, subcontractors, or construction management consulting firms.
- Experience leading both internal and external teams, building consensus, and driving project initiatives.
- Familiarity with EPC contracts, subcontracts, and construction agreements.
- Desirable: General contractor license and OEM construction experience.
