Per Se Group has an excellent one year contract assignment for a skilled Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Designer. In this role, you will work with our client, a major Oil & Gas refinery located in the Greater Chicagoland area. You will be joining a dedicated team of professional instrument specialists and contributing your expertise to design and document control of designs.
- ResponsibilitiesCreate field sketches for upfront engineering activities and convert those to AutoCAD files when released to do so by the Engineer.
- Modify and update existing refinery drawings as required to fulfill project needs, such as Instrument Loop Drawings (includes creating/updating the following) and Terminal cabinet drawings.
- Create DCS drawings – Delta V hardware and demonstrate end device knowledge.
- Responsible for instrument location plans; motor schematics – including understanding the logic in the control circuit; power plans; grounding plans; and lighting plans & details.
- Additional responsibilities include panel schedules; Electric Trace Isometrics; conduit and cable schedules; electrical single lines; area classification drawings; P&ID Modification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in design and drafting in a refinery, or equivalent, setting.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2023.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Become familiar with and adhere to our client’s safety standards.
- Able to go outdoors into the refinery and wear PPE consisting of Fire-Resistant Clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, safety toe boots with a defined heal, and ear plugs.
- Use of a fall protection harness may also be needed from time to time to access equipment above grade.
- Perform field walk-downs if needed for layout, reviews, and verification for design work, which could involve climbing ladders and stairways.
- Ability to quickly become knowledgeable of refinery's Electrical and Instrumentation specifications for design work.
- Able to learn and work within our client’s system for completing MOC action items as assigned.
