Per Se is currently seeking an experienced Plant Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client based out of Alaska. This client specializes in delivering essential utility services, with a primary focus on supplying electricity, water, and wastewater services to military installations and government facilities. Their expertise lies in the operation and maintenance of utility systems, ensuring the dependable and efficient provision of vital services to their clientele.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for conducting engineering related work for various systems at DU facilities.
- Build equipment strategies and identify risk equipment as part of a good asset management practices.
- Conduct process related evaluations to determine the proficiency of the systems and determine if systems are performing at expected efficiencies.
- Design O&M projects, aid the CHPP Superintendent and the Capital Programs Manager in developing projects for the 5 YR Capital Plan, help develop preliminary budgets for such projects, and help set the priority of such projects.
- Manage certain projects constructed in the CHPP.
- Aid the CHPP Plant Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Operations Supervisor and Maintenance Leads with troubleshooting of problem systems and aid the CHPP staff in proper scheduling of work.
- Perform engineering calculations to determine steam, water, and air flows as they relate to equipment and processes of the CHPP.
- Assist in review of drawings and specifications.
- Perform root cause failure analysis after equipment related events and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline; mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.3
- 5+ years’ experience working as a Plant Engineer in a power producing facility, preferably a coal fired plant.
- Must have a working knowledge of the mechanical systems of coal fired power plants.
- Must have a working knowledge of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Must be adept at writing and understanding written communications.
- Must be able to analyze plant systems and their operations and make suggestions to increase system efficiencies.
- Must demonstrate initiative and be able to work with little supervision.
